Hon. Asman Kamama Formally Joins KANU Ahead of Upcoming General Election

The Kenya African National Union (KANU) today welcomed Hon. Asman Kamama into the party during a reception hosted at the party headquarters and led by the Secretary General, Hon. George Wainaina, MBS, HSC.

Hon. Kamama’s entry into KANU marks a significant addition to the party’s leadership ranks, bringing with him decades of experience in public service, governance, and national leadership. A respected figure in Kenyan politics, he previously served as Member of Parliament for Baringo East and Tiaty Constituencies, where he earned recognition for his commitment to public service and development.

Throughout his distinguished career, Hon. Kamama has held various ministerial positions and played a central role in shaping national policy. Notably, he served as the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Administration and National Security between 2013 and 2017, a period during which he provided oversight and leadership on key matters relating to security, governance, and public administration.

His academic background further underscores his leadership credentials. Hon. Kamama holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and has undertaken additional training in administration and leadership, equipping him with extensive knowledge and expertise in public affairs.

As Kenya begins to look ahead to the next General Election, Hon. Kamama has declared his intention to reclaim the Tiaty Parliamentary seat, a position he previously held and through which he served the people of the region. His decision signals a renewed commitment to advancing development and representing the interests of the constituents of Tiaty.

The reception was attended by members of staff led by the Executive Director, Mercy Wanyeki, who joined party officials in welcoming Hon. Kamama to the KANU family.

His return to active politics under the KANU banner is expected to strengthen the party’s presence in Baringo County and contribute to its broader vision of experienced, people-centered leadership.

As KANU continues to grow and attract leaders committed to serving the nation, the party expressed confidence that Hon. Kamama’s wealth of experience and proven leadership record will be a valuable asset in advancing its agenda and priorities.

Karibu nyumbani, Hon. Kamama. Your return to KANU marks the beginning of a new chapter of leadership, service, and dedication to the people of Tiaty and Kenya as a whole.
