Article 9: Nomination of Senator
a) One who requires vying for the position of a senator shall be required to meet the provisions of
KANU constitution.
9.1 Qualifications
I. Be a member of KANU for a period of not less six (6) months prior to the date of nomination
II. Be a citizen of Kenya and a holder of a National Identity card or a Kenya passport as may be
III. Prescribed by law.
IV. Must pledge to contribute the requisite amount as provided for by FORM 10 PPC 3
V. Be a registered voter in the country in which he/she intends to
contest IV. Be eighteen years and above.
VI. Be conversant with support and subscribe to the party ideology, philosophy, mission and
values.
VII. Sign the party code of conduct and abide by the party pledge of commitment
VIII. Pay nomination non-refundable fees in the amount of Ksh.250,000/=. This amount may be
waived or reduced to take in to account special interest groups.
IX. Submit Curriculum Vitae in a prescribed form and a valid certificate of good conduct
X. Be qualified to be a candidate for the position of a senator as per the national legislation.
XI. Not owe allegiance to a foreign state
XII. Not be a public officer or be acting in any state of public office
XIII. Be a holder of a degree certificated from a university recognized in Kenya.
XIV. Be nominated by at least 2000 registered members of KANU Party in the county he/she would
want to contest in.
XV. Submit a clearance certificate from KRA
XVI. Provide a clearance certificate from HELB.
XVII. Submit a clearance certificate from EACC.
XVIII. Be a Gold Card Holder/ Member
XIX. And any other requirement as shall be directed by the IEBC with regards to matters elections
