ARTICLE 4.1 ELIGIBILITY OF THE BOARD MEMBERS
A) Chairperson
A person is qualified for appointment as the chairperson of the National Elections Board if that person—
i. Has been a member of the Party for at least three years;
ii. is eligible to vote at an election;
iii. is not an aspirant in the party primary;
iv. MUST be at least a gold member;
v. has not been convicted of an election offence;
vi. satisfies the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution;
vii. holds at least a certificate of secondary education; and
viii. Must be well conversant with matters elections
B) Members of the Board
i. is eligible to vote at an election;
ii. is not an aspirant in the party primary;
iii. MUST be at least a gold member;
iv. has not been convicted of an election offence;
v. satisfies the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution; and
vi. holds at least a certificate of secondary education.
Article 4.2 TERM OF OFFICE
The term of the National Elections Board shall be five Years renewable.
Article 4.3 SECURITY OF TENURE
Members of the board shall have guaranteed tenure until a mandatory expiry of their term of office.
Article 4.4 GROUNDS FOR REMOVAL OF A MEMBER FROM THE BOARD
A person may cease to be member of a party’s Election Board if that person;
i. resigns from the party;
ii. defects from the party;
iii. violates the party’s constitution, nomination rules, national elections board rules and procedures
or the party nomination code of conduct;
iv. has declared interest in a particular nomination;
v. is physically or mentally incapacitated;
vi. is convicted of an election offence or a criminal offence which carries a sentence of more than
six months of imprisonment without the option of a fine; or
vii. has been found by a court to have violated the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
