KANU MANIFESTO 2022-2027
Agriculture and Food Security:
AGENDA 2 Guaranteed Minimum Returns
During 2019/20 Financial Year (FY), the agricultural sector accounted
for about 35.4% of GDP and 2.3% of tax revenue (Kenya Manufacturing
Priority Agenda, 2021). In 2020, the Agriculture sector recorded mixed
performance. Sector growth decelerated to 5.4 % compared to 3.0 %
in 2019. The observed performance is attributed to the COVID-19
pandemic and inadequate short rains during the year under review
(Economic Survey, 2021). Agriculture remains the dominant sector,
accounting for 23% of the economy's total value in 2020, with
industry-related activities accounting for 17.1% of the total
contribution in GDP growth (Economic Survey, 2021).

Our Vision
In 2020, total employment outside small-scale agriculture and pastoral activities stood at 17.4
million, down from 18.1 million recorded in 2019 (Economic Survey, 2021). We plan to have large scale
food production of staple foods in Kenya with guaranteed minimum returns to the farmers in
conformity with the second goal of SDG of Zero Hunger - End Hunger, Achieve Food Security and
Improved Nutrition while promoting sustainable Agriculture
Our Plan
We plan to achieve maximum food security and nutrition with measures that will drastically reduce
the cost of food and its production. We are for the agricultural revolution as an economic and
commercial enterprise that will provide Kenyans with employment, not mere subsistence. KANU
