37.6. The Party’s Presidential Candidate shall appoint his running mate (incase such position
is provided for in the Kenyan Constitution) who shall in every respect be qualified to be
a party’s Presidential candidate.
37.7. The Presidential Nomination Council shall be chaired by the Chairperson of the party
National Election Board who shall declare the results of the nomination.
37.8. The nomination of party’s candidates for Parliamentary and County level seats shall be
done, by secret ballot, directly by all members of the Party who are registered as
members of the party in the electoral area where the election is to be held.
37.9. The signatories on the Nomination Certificate shall be the National Chairperson and
either and any other person as may be appointed/designated by the National
chairperson.
37.10. The National Elections Board shall reserve the right to nominate a candidate directly
PROVIDED direct nomination shall not be applicable, where a nomination by voting
has already taken place.
37.11. The decision of the National Elections Board shall be final subject to Article 28 and
the person declared by the National Elections Board as nominated shall from the date
of such declaration be, the Party’s candidate for the applicable election.
37.12. The National Elections Board may at its discretion contract the Independent Electoral
and Boundaries Commission to undertake an elections exercise in respect of any
nomination or Party elections exercise.
