KANU MANIFESTO 2022-2027
Sustainable Economy
AGENDA 1 The services sector dominates Kenya’s economy with a 49.7%
contribution to GDP. The share of agricultural output to the economy
increased from 31.1% in 2015 to 34.8% in 2019 while the services
sector’s declined from 52.5% in 2015 to 49.7% in 2019. Industrial sector
contribution to GDP declined from 16.4 % to 15.5%. The continued
dominance of the tertiary (service) and primary (agricultural) sectors
signals a slow pace of structural transformation towards an
industrialized economy (Manufacturing Priority Agenda, 2021).
Kenya GDP contracted by 0.3 % in 2020, hit by the economic fallout of Covid-19, compared to 5%
growth in 2019 (The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, Economic Survey, 2021). We are committed to
restoring and building a sustainable economy that will bring back our people to the business.

Our Vision
The manufacturing sector’s contribution to GDP reduced to 7.5% in 2019 from 7.8% in 2018
(Manufacturing Priority Agenda, 2021). This is an indication that Kenya is sliding instead of
industrializing. Our vision is to develop Kenya into a sustainable industrial economy that is a mass
employer, revenue generator, magnet of local and international investment and catalyst of production
and exportation of Kenyan brands.
Our Plan
We plan to build a manufacturing sector that contributes towards the promotion and protection of a
modern local economy through regional economic coordination by establishment of industrial parks,
exploitation of affordable energy supply and value addition on raw materials intended for export while KANU
keeping our commitment to deliver responsible environmental stewardship along with strong
economic growth.
