6.2. ELECTION OF NATIONAL OFFICIALS
6.2.1. All National Officials other than the Executive Director shall be elected by delegates at
a National Delegates Conference.
6.2.2. Elections shall be through secret ballot or any other method of voting acceptable to the
delegates in session and, where an office is contested by more than one candidate, the
vote shall be decided by a simple majority. Where only one candidate is nominated to
an office at the close of the nominations, that candidate shall be declared duly elected
to the office for which he/she was nominated. Nomination of all candidates shall be in
the prescribed form.
6.2.3. The National Elections Board shall prescribe fees, vet, clear the names of candidates
for various positions at least seven days before the National Delegates Conference
at which elections are to be held and supervise and declare winners of the said
elections.
6.2.4. Election results of any national post shall be final as announced subject to Article 23
of this Constitution.
6.2.5. No person shall qualify to be appointed a National Official’ unless
(a) He/She is a Platinum or Gold Member of the Party where applicable;
(b) He/She is qualified to hold public office in the Republic of Kenya and has not
contravened the provisions of Chapter 6 of constitution of Kenya 2010, Political
Parties Act 2011 and the party’s constitution.

(c) Pays the requisite fee for application and nomination as is set out under the 7
Schedule.
6.3. Terms of office
(a) National Officials shall hold office for five consecutive years and shall be
eligible for re-election at the expiry of their term of office;
(b) Elections of National Officials shall be held every five years.
(b) A National Delegates- Conference at which election of National Officials is an
agenda shall be preceded by a National Youth Congress and a National Women
Congress to elect Congress Officials in accordance with Article 18 and 19
respectively.
6.4. If a vacancy occurs in any national office from whatever cause, the National Chairperson
in consultation with the National Executive Council shall appoint a person from amongst
