ARTICLE 8 A: FIRST NATIONAL DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON
First National Deputy Chairperson - He shall deputize the National Chairperson and may
perform such functions and exercise such powers as may be assigned by the National
Chairperson, the National Executive Council or the National Governing Council.
ARTICLE 8 B: SECOND NATIONAL DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON
Second National Deputy Chairperson - He shall perform such functions ‘and exercise such
powers as may be assigned to him by the National Chairperson or the National Executive
Council.
ARTICLE 9: THE SECRETARY GENERAL
The Secretary General shall:
(a) Be the Principal Accounting officer;
(b) Be the secretary to the National Delegates Conference, National Governing Council and
National Executive Council and shall ensure that meetings of the aforementioned organs
as prescribed by the Constitution and at such times as may be decided by the National
Chairperson or the National Executive Council;
(c) Ensure statutory compliance and issue notices;
(d) keep or cause to be kept proper records of minutes of all meetings of all the National
organs of the party, membership register, property, investments and assets of the party;
(e) make statutory declarations for and on behalf of the party;
(f) attend all caucuses of KANU members of the Senate, National Assembly, Congress of
Governors and County Assembly as the case may be;
(g) and he shall perform such other functions and exercise such other powers conferred upon
him under this constitution or by the National Chairperson or by the National Executive
Council.
ARTICLE 9 A: THE DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL
The Deputy Secretary General Shall perform such duties and exercise the powers of the
Secretary General in his absence or as may be directed by the National Chairperson or the
National Executive Council.
