its members to fill the vacant position for the unexpired term of the immediate former
official,
6.5.A person elected to a national office under this Article shall qualify to hold the same
at the Branch office; and if he held one prior to election to national office, he shall not
relinquish that Branch office.
6.6. Notwithstanding anything contained in this Constitution, a National Official or Officer of
the Party shall not be prevented from rendering consultancy or professional services to the
Party. In the event of such consultancy or professional services the National Executive
Council shall negotiate terms and conditions thereof in total and full regard to the interests
and objectives of the Party.
6.7.At the National Delegates Conference at which election of National Officials is an agenda,
the candidates cleared by the National Elections Board to contest the positions of National
Chairperson, First Deputy National Chairperson, Second National Deputy Chairperson,
Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, National Treasurer, Deputy National
Treasurer, Organizing Secretary and Deputy Organizing Secretary (programs and
training), Deputy Organizing Secretary (Operations) shall each be accorded a brief
opportunity to introduce themselves, after which delegates shall vote by secret ballot for
these positions PROVIDED any candidate may while introducing themselves, withdraw
from the election.
6.8. Notwithstanding the provisions of clause 6.11. of this Article the National Governing
Council on the recommendation of the National Executive Council may re-schedule the
holding of, elections ‘of the’ National Officials if the interests of the Party so demand.
6.9. National Officials may receive from the Party such allowances and other benefits as
the National Executive Council may determine from time to time.
