31.1.4. The Functions of the Board shall include:
(a) To formulate and co-ordinate KANU elections strategies and conduct Party elections.
(b) Undertake Presidential, Parliamentary and County level primary nominations in
respect to a general election or a by-election in accordance with the Party nomination
rules as approved by the National Executive Council
(c) Deputize the National Executive Council on the making of rules and regulations to
govern Party elections provided for under this Constitution.
(d) The National Elections whenever necessary may constitute county elections panels
who shall perform such functions as may be assigned to them in writing by the National
Elections Board PROVIDED THAT in the performance of their function, they shall be
supervised by the National Elections Board.
(e) Create a presidential Nomination Council
(e) Do anything necessary and proper to ensure the success of the Party in elections.
31.1.5. In appointing the Board members, the National Chairperson shall designate one of
them as the Chairperson.
31.1.6. The Board shall decide on rules and procedures for the conduct of its affairs
31.1.7. The. Elections Board shall prescribe fees, forms and other documents needed for
purposes of Party elections and/or nominating Party candidates for elections, and shall
supervise issuance and return of those ‘forms as circumstances may warrant.
31.1.8. The National Executive Council may raise objections in respect to any candidate
presented PROVIDED a candidate whose candidature the Council determines is not in
tandem with Party principles and aspirations who shall be granted a hearing before
disqualification.
31.1.9. The Board shall design Nomination Certificates in respect to any election.
31.1.10. The signatories under clause 31.1.9 shall be the National Chairperson and any other
person as may be appointed/designated by the National chairperson
31.1.11. The tenure of the National Elections Board shall be five Years renewable.
